Carpenters Union Apprenticeship Program
Over the years, Human Interest Films has enjoyed a close and productive relationship with the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. We have produced dozens of pieces of internal- and external-facing content used for training, political organizing, recruitment, marketing, etc. This video was produced for the Southwest Carpenters Training Fund as part of an overall re-branding effort and website re-design.
CASA-NYC Fundraising Video
As CASA-NYC (Court Appointed Special Advocates of New York City) approached its 40th Anniversary celebration, the organization’s leadership expressed to us how challenging it has been over the year to explain their mission and work to the general public. Working closely with CASA leadership, we conducted more than two-dozen interviews, out which we crafted this 6 1/2 minute video. The video premiered at CASA’s anniversary gala in April 2019 — moving the audience to tears and helping the event break previous fundraising records. Staff and board members later told us that this video was a “game changer” — solving once and for all the problem of explaining to others what CASA does to help children navigating through New York City’s foster care system.

ADOPTION FROM FOSTER CARE
For its campaign promoting adoption from foster care, Ad Council chose the theme “You Don’t Need to be Perfect to be a Perfect Parent.” Following the release of a series of humorous :30 second scripted TV spots, Ad Council asked us to produce a series of short digital videos about Raenell and Floyd Crenshaw of Danville, IL, to present a “real life” example of the campaign’s slogan in action.

HERStories: Hasini Jayatilaka
“Great ideas can come from anywhere!”
Shot on location at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, this branded content for Lifetime tells the story of Hasini Jayatilaka — who grew up in Sri Lanka being told “you’re too ambitious for a girl” and came to college wanting to “be invisible.” She found her way into Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and while she was an undergraduate made a discovery which is having a profound impact on the way we fight cancer.

“EVERYONE IN” CAMPAIGN
“Everyone In” is a massive, grass-roots campaign to address Los Angeles’ homeless crisis. Funded by a major ballot initiative, and “powered” by the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Everyone In has deployed an elite team of passionate community organizers to build public support for the construction of 10,000 unites of supportive housing citywide. The campaign’s creative agency SWELL commissioned Human Interest Films to produce a series of videos highlighting the personal stories of five organizers.
Diabetes Prevention Campagin
Since 2010, Human Interest Films has partnered with Ad Council on more than a dozen public service campaigns highlighting issues ranging from emergency preparedness to autism awareness. In 2016, as part of Ad Council’s Diabetes Prevention Campaign, we profiled individuals diagnosed with prediabetes to highlight the condition and educate viewers about the possibility of reversing that diagnosis and preventing diabetes through proper diet and medical care.
The Power of Baseball
Every spring, The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation hosts the star-studded “Blue Diamond Gala” at Dodger Stadium featuring a major musical act and a video, projected on the stadium’s massive Diamond Vision screens, produced by Human Interest Films. This year’s video was inspired by the gala’s theme, “The Power of Baseball.”

“LIFE, MAGNIFIED” CAMPAIGN
In 2017, A&E Networks internal creative agency 45th & Dean chose Human Interest Films to create a series of — what else? — human interest stories highlighting inspiring individuals around the country who are making a difference in their communities. One hitch — we would only have :20 seconds to tell each story, as the spots were intended to air as short network ID “bumpers” during the broadcast of A&E’s highest rated show LivePD. We rose to the challenge, sent crews around the U.S. to highlight a wide range of inspiring men and women, and took home the “Gold” at Promax BDA last year for best PSA campaign. Human Interest Films has produced more than 50 bumpers as part of this project, and the campaign continues. Special thanks to our fearless leaders at 45th & Dean, Tom Kaniewski and Charles Barron.
