“I’ve had 10 heart attacks. If I had not started to ask questions of my doctors, I honestly think I’d be dead today.”
In 2011, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services, decided to overhaul its website and inject new energy into its “Questions are the Answer” campaign. The campaign, created in partnership with The Ad Council, encourages patients to ask their doctors questions rather than being passive participants in their own health care.
AHRQ hired Human Interest Films to produce 11 video PSAs profiling patients and doctors, talking about the importance of patients being actively engaged in their own medical care. The web videos were so successful that AHRQ asked us to compile a “best of” video to present at the agency’s annual meeting in Washington as well as a “waiting room” video that the agency is distributing to doctors’ offices nationwide.Producer/Director: Rachel Talbot Coordinating Producer: Caroline Waterlow Executive Producer: Mike DeWitt
